February was a busy month so I decided to divide the photos in different parts. This is part 1. This tiny Guianan Streaked Antwren was busy finishing her nest near the river. I tried to shoot the male too, but he was way too smart to pose for me. A full grown Great Black Hawk is always seen near the river. Either perched or flying away. During a nighthike we spotted this Treefrog (Hypsiboas sp) sitting right next to the trail. Never thought that Tree Rats could be so adorable. One of our targets was the Sunbittern. A smart bird that always was 2 steps ahead of our boat. The only way to beat him at his game was to switch off the motor and quietly try to approach him. It took us almost 30 minutes before we managed to get this close. This couple White-eyed Parakeets were having an intimacy moment. This was also my first 'manageable' picture of this parakeet species. The boat passed by very quickly when I saw this bird from the corner of my eyes. It was the Amazonian Black Tyrant sitting still underneath these dry branches. Haven't seen this bird in quite a while so I was really happy to meet him again. Even if it was for a brief moment. This Little Blue Heron was also present during this month. Seldom sits the Green-backed Trogon so nice out in the open. The reason is of course that he was not alone. Here you see both male and female Green-backed Trogon. We almost missed this one. A Red-brocket Deer looking back at us well hidden between all those branches. And we saw a lot of Giant Otters during this month too. Most of the time we saw them swimming but this time we caught them off guard. They were just hanging around and cleaning themselves up.
