An Amazon Kingfisher with his lunch.
Kingfishers are those birds that like to challenge your ability to wait for the right moment. During boat trips they like to sit still for quite a while and the moment you want to press the button .... off they go. It is sometimes frustrating but that is their nature.
The Amazon Kingfisher is the second largest kingfisher seen in Kabalebo (Suriname). Usually you will hear them first and seconds later they will leave their hiding spot.
When I was at the River Cabin area I noticed one Amazon Kingfisher while hunting. He succeeded in catching one fish and while he was trying to swallow it whole, I finally got the chance to photograph him.
An average day in the daily life of a Kingfisher.
