The Lowland Tapir has become a celebrity himself. Check the behind-the- scenes-pictures below.
When I post photo's of wildlife, you will only see the main subject. Whether it is a bird, snake, insect, amphibian or mammal, they all are my main subjects. This does not always mean that both the subject and I are alone in the rainforest. Sometimes I also have some company.
When tapirs don't feel threatened, they take their time eating. When I was taking pictures of this tapir, some tourists joined me too after their boat trip was over.
We told them to be quiet and not to make sudden moves so they all sat still in front of the tapir.
After a while he did notice them and started to walk away from. As you can see he was quite close but still didn't run away. The guests were all excited to have experience this too. Something you won't see or meet everyday.
