Large macaws were the first birds at Kabalebo that I was able to identify easily. They are associated with the Amazon and I am sure that the rainforest will not be same without them.
It is written and said that they are seen in large flocks at clay licks. But I still haven't seen any clay licks in either Kabalebo or in Suriname.
To understand the link between Macaws and clay licks better I will volunteer for the next period at the Tambopata Research Centre, Peru.
The rainforest and the Fauna world looks similar to that of Suriname.
I'll keep you posted!
