Meeting a female White-faced Saki is an unusual moment. I met this female White-faced Saki in the park of the River cabin. Some movements was spotted between the dense vegetation in the trees and I decided to have a closer look. At first I thought it were Common Squirrel Monkeys, but instead I met a female White-faced Saki (alone). It was a rare encounter as I always met the White-faced Saki's in a small group. The male (leader) of the group makes himself always visible for us in the hope to distract us from his family and the female. When I met this lady, she was a bit away from her group. Several minutes she kept watch at me and followed every move I made on the ground. It is possible that she was trying to keep up with the group but was somehow distracted by my presence. When you only meet the female White-faced Saki for the first time, you wouldn't have guessed her identity. That is when the male comes in handy. When looking at the pictures of the female it looks like she was in such a bad mood, but that is where the saying counts 'looks can be deceiving.'
