Lotje, our resident ocelot, is once again a mother.
Over the years we have gotten used to see Lotje being accompanied by a cub since 2013. Her last cub, Junior, kept her company until the month April 2016. In the months May and June it was pretty quiet near the feeder. She didn't come by very often during that time so it was possible that it was mating season for her. In the month July she slowly returned to the feeder and it was clear to see that she had grown a little belly too; yes she was expecting. At the beginning of August we noticed that Lotje started to breastfeed her new cub.
Just before she left the feeder you can clearly see that she has a little belly.
Here you can see that she already started to breastfeed the newborn.
Now we patiently wait until she is ready to introduce the newest member to us.
