Caught red handed at the Suites: the Golden-handed Tamarin.
The Golden-handed Tamarin is the smallest monkey I've seen so far foraging in Kabalebo. Small and agile with the appearance of a small black house cat. Often seen hidden between vine tangles or dense vegetation, making it also difficult to photograph.
But not so long ago I caught a small group behind the Suites while enjoying the free food: papaya's and olives. As we both discovered each others' presence I had to take quick shots before they would disappear again.
In these pictures above you can clearly see that this little Tamarin monkey saw me too and decided to leave as soon as possible.
As it was a small group I saw several of them scattered in the open area behind the Suites. This one just wanted to see what all the commotion was about and jumped into a young tree to get a bit higher, after noticing me it also left immediately.
It is still a bit weird to see these tree dwelling mammals moving also on the ground.
