Newest member on the birdlist: the Spangled Cotinga.
On August 12, 2016 this male Spangled Cotinga (Cotinga cayana) was spotted between the green foliage at the river cabin. It seemed like a quiet bird, one that flew higher into the trees, but since he was also an owner of glittering sparkling plumage, he was easy target too.
He was seen alone and was sitting for several minutes on the same branch. He wasn't alarmed by my presence but at the same time he kept quiet too.
Spangled Cotinga's live from insects, flying termites and berries. Things, trees in the jungle can easy provide him with.
The Spangled Cotinga surely kept up his name; as you can see that even though he was sitting quietly between the leaves, he still was visible in plain sight. With the help of the sunlight his plumage also illuminated in quite a unique way.
