Table for two
Sometimes we consider the ocelot feeder as a table for two.
The ocelot feeder has been the spot for Lotje and her kittens; a welcoming treat spot for the past 4 years. But it is also a meeting point for others besides the ocelots. Here are some who enjoyed the free treat.
An odd couple: the Opossum and the Paca. Both like to have a piece of it, but surely won't like to share.
Opossums are solitary animals, they like it if the ocelot had wasted some food. When two opossums are at the feeder at the same time, it usually ends with one walking away quite mad.
And what if Lotje, the ocelot, meets the Opossum? They are frenemies, meaning she won't attack or kill the opossum, but at the same time Lotje doesn't like the opossum very much either. She will allow the opossum to eat for some seconds before deciding it is time that the opossum must go and find its food elsewhere.
Here is another encounter between Lotje, the ocelot, and the opossum. Most of the time the opossum is the first at the feeder before Lotje arrives.
The only one that can share the table with Lotje, is her own kitten, but only while under her guidance and supervision that is.
