Bird of the day: Violaceous Euphonia.
This colorful looking fellow is seen on a daily basis in the rainforest of Kabalebo. Especially during the mornings these little birds are so agile. I have seen them a lot near the Guava trees and when trying to take a good photo of them, they tend to make it so difficult for you. They are eating.
On this day both male and female were not near any Guava tree. My lucky day. The male is more colorful compared to the female. He is quite recognizable by his bright yellow front and a little bright yellow spot right above his head. The female is more camouflaged but is still a pretty picture to take. She has more green and it takes a little while to also spot her.
The Violaceous Euphonia is a fruit eater. I have seen them a lot of time on the Guava trees, but they also like to have a little variety in their diet. Here we spotted the male devouring a berrie, all by himself. Interesting to see how he is chipping his way through it.
