The reason why I like (to observe) ocelots. I have been observing wild ocelots in Kabalebo since 2013. I have been studying their behavior alone, together or with other animals. For this I have been looking through dozens and dozens of trophy cams photo's and videos, which is by the way still amazing to do. But when I saw these trophy cam photos passing by it also hit me why I also like them a lot. So here you see Lotje during the day instead when night falls. She looks even more astonishing and vivid when it is not so dark at all. In general, when visiting the Amazon, the majority of the visitors wants to see the Jaguar. Understandable, I mean who doesn't want to? But ocelots are also quite interesting just like their larger cousin. Personally I prefer ocelots, 'cause in general there isn't much known about them. Lotje may not be a large cat but her paws are also not tiny. They can start a fight or protect themselves (or their babies) with those sharp claws and teeth. Remember, she is still a wild cat in the rainforest. Also ocelots have these elegant look and can also walk gracefully through the forest. And since I have seen them in the wild walking freely, not locked up in a cage or tied to a chain, makes me like them even more.
* Note: I am not a biologist but I have been observing wild ocelots since 2013. This is my personal opinion and experience too. You may also like the following posts: Comments are closed.
