A secretive resident of Kabalebo: the Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet.
The Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet (Tyrannulus elatus) is a small little flycatcher. One you will hear more often than that you will actually see. With its 10 cm length and its love for hiding between the leaves and shadowy places it is known as one of our secretive residents.
This small flycatcher is found between the small trees, surrounding the lodges, in search of seeds and insects. The Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet makes short flights between the leaves and is most of the times seen on top of the small trees too.
They are most often seen alone but sometimes also as a couple. On top of its head there is a small yellow crown patch. When they are calling it has this familiar sound 'Free beers or Three Beers'.
